Port Edward set to work with Prince Rupert, other local governments/organizations in response to COVID-19

Port Edward Council will meet to discuss their response to
the COVID-19 situation on Tuesday evening

District of Port Edward Mayor Knut Bjorndal made for one of his first public statements over the weekend, making note on the direction that his community will be heading towards as they expand their response to the COVID-19 situation.

In a Facebook post from Sunday, Mayor Bjorndal highlighted the serious nature of the health issue facing the region and how his community will work with others in the area to keep the region safe.

We must take strong and decisive action to combat this pandemic. We must take the advice of health professionals whose knowledge of medicine and infectious diseases is paramount in us defeating this pandemic.

We must also use methods that have proved effective in other countries or regions of the world. Port Edward is working with Prince Rupert and we will coordinate our efforts with them to make our region safe.

Towards the Port Edward efforts, Mr. Bjorndal observed that they will outline their measures as part of their Tuesday Council session.

Council will take up our response at our meeting on Tuesday. I will keep you informed as we receive additional information.

Last week the District, like many other local government organizations and groups enacted a number of measures including reduced access to public facilities in the community.
