Lax Kw'alaams the first community on North Coast to deliver info on COVID 19 coronavirus

The community of Lax Kw'alaams appears to be the first of the region to provide for an update for residents as to how they plan to address issues related to the COVID-19 coronavirus situation that has captured the attention of everyone from the North Coast to across the province, the nation and world.

Mayor Garry Reece has made use of the Community website and Social Media options to relay what steps have already been taken in the community and to provide links to other online locations where additional information can be obtained.

The letter to residents provides details on how the community is monitoring the situation, in addition to relay what steps residents can take to protect themselves as well.

The information was posted to their various resources around the noon hour today.

You can review the communication for community residents and access the links provided here.

To this point Lax Kw'alaams is the only community in the area to offer such guidance

As of this afternoon, neither the City of Prince Rupert website and its range of Social medias streams, or the social media footprint for Mayor Lee Brain, offer any notes of information of similar scope for the community.

Nor do the information streams for:

The District of Port Edward
Website, Facebook;

Metlakatla First Nation
Website, Facebook

Regional District
Website

Northern Health for its part is directing residents of Northern BC to the BC Centre for Disease Control for updated information on the status of the virus.

Cross posted from the North Coast Review.
