City of Prince Rupert cancels programs at Civic Centre; offers further COVID 19 advice for residents

The City of Prince Rupert has expanded on their initial advisory of yesterday, releasing a full list of suspended activities at the Recreation Centre with close to twenty programs now no hiatus including all of their Spring Break activities.

The City also makes note of the cancellation of the Minor Hockey tournament this week as well as the Figure Skating Gala by the the Prince Rupert Figure Skating Club.

City Hall has also provided guidance for those who many need to contact their offices for such things as bill paying with the city introducing its protocols towards Social Distancing.

The City has directed staff to enhance cleaning measures within our facilities, and we are also asking our staff as well as residents to observe good hygiene practices (such as regular hand washing and social distancing), as recommended by the local health authorities.

Included in their advisory was this instructional video from the BC Centre for Disease control

March can be a busy time for our customer service area at City Hall. To promote recommended social distancing, residents seeking to pay utility bills and other amounts owing are encouraged to use alternative payment methods to in-person options, such as paying by cheque in the mailslot (delivered to City Hall on or before the due date) or online payment via your financial institution (contact your financial institution for more information).
