The Terrace area is the latest community in Northern British Columbia that Northern Health has issued a Toxic Drug Alert towards, with the Health Agency sharing the alert with residents on Monday.
In their notice of yesterday, it was noted that:
There has been an increase in overdose events in the Terrace region, with the substance known as 'Down" having been tested positive for both benos and fentanyl, a combination that has resulted in overdose and prolonged sedation.
Towards safety for those that may be using the drug, Northern Health has offered up a range of safety notes for consideration.
Similar warnings were issued for Prince George and Fort St. John in recent weeks.
So far there has been no alert issued for Prince Rupert, however, considering this community's proximity to Terrace, it is something to be aware of.
More notes related to Northern Health can be reviewed from our archive pages here.
