Lax Kw'alaams modifies COVID travel measures as of today

The Lax Kw'alaams Band Council has once again issued an advisory on travel for its members, modifying some earlier measures of January 8th and returning the Travel guidance that was in place at the start of the month.

In an announcement from the Band Council on Thursday, the latest advisory from the Emergency Measures Committee was relayed which reinforces that the travel corridor remains Lax Kw'alaams to Prince Rupert Only.

Members from Prince Rupert are allowed to enter Lax Kw'alaams with medial health professionals and contractors from Prince Rupert also allowed access.

Further guidance is in place towards contractors from outside of the area, length of isolation periods and monitoring measures which you can review from the notice below:

The most recent update loosens the restrictions and ban on travel in and out of the community that was instituted on January 8th after the Band Council learned of transfers of COVID patients from Terrace to Prince Rupert, as well as reports of two positive cases in Prince Rupert.

Today provided for the first opportunity for review of the travel ban, with the Committee recommending a return to the previous travel corridor notice.
