Hiring pressures and the need to recruit workers to the community made for the focus of a presentation to Prince Rupert City Council back in 2018, that overview from three members of the business community highlighted some of the challenges that local business and service providers were having at that time. The Prince Rupert Port Authority has also made note in the past as to how the ever increasing expansion of terminal and port development will continue to bring a need to recruit more workers to the community.
As one of their projects, the City's Redesign Rupert program released a labour market study in December of 2019 that highlighted the need for an employee recruitment strategy.
