The communities of the Nass Valley are currently under a State of Local Emergency Order |
With the Nass Valley currently experiencing an increased level of COVID cases among the villages of the region, health officials at the New Aiyansh Health Centre have introduced some additional protocols and procedures for the facility.
In a statement from the Nisga'a Lisims Government on Wednesday, the Nisga'a Valley Health Authority outlined that in order to ensure the health and safety of the staff and community members the following changes were in effect.
Reduction of the number of staff in the office of each department
A remind of the need to wear medically approved masks in all common areas, ensuring both mouth and nose are fully covered
Continued efforts to socially distance for work related staff briefings
The Closure of the facility staff room
There are also measure now in place for residents of each of the communities served by the Health Centre.
You can review the full list for those communities from the information release here.
The statement from yesterday also alerts the community towards another potential measure, one that may be put in place towards a reduction in patient travel.
"This means that it may be in the best interest for the nation the all non-emergency appointments outside the valley be curtailed. To achieve this NVHA is encouraging all those community members who have Non-Emergency appointments outside the valley to reconsider scheduling those until the COVID numbers can be contained"
The new measures from Nisga'a Valley Health come as the Nisga'a Lisims Government extends the current State of Local Emergency for the communities of the Nass Valley, announcing that decision yesterday.
