Some new features will come with an expanded helicopter landing area for the community of Lax Kw'alaams with work already two weeks in towards the twelve week construction timetable.

In an update for Members, the Band Council highlighted some of the work taking place as part of the project.

Noting of the addition of a wind sock, camera pole, weather station and backup electrical generator as new features that will soon be installed.

The helicopter pad will be expanded by 3-3.5 meters from the perimeter of the old helipad, and include ground lights.

An alternate Helicopter landing site is in place near the Coast Tsimshian Fish Plant, with residents asked to observe the markings surrounding the temporary site.

If all goes well, the project should be complete by Mid July.

Updates on the project will likely be shared through the Lax Kw'alaams Social media stream.
