Update: River Forecast has now upgraded their advisory to that of a FLOOD WATCH for Skeena, Bulkley and tributaries.

The hot weather of the weekend and the prospect of more to come this week has delivered a High Streamflow Advisory for the Skeena and Bulkley Rivers and their tributaries.
The effect of the rising temperatures that of an accelerated snow pack melt in the mountains, which feed into the local water systems.
The most recent update noting that the potential for flows in rivers in the region to reach or exceed two-year flows by Tuesday or Wednesday of next week and may reach higher levels later in the week.
The advisory which was released at 11:30 AM on Sunday, includes the Wet'suwet'en and Gitxsan Territories as well as the communities of Telkwa, Smithers, Hazelton, Kispiox and Terrace.

The River Forecast Centre reminds those in the impacted areas that conditions can change quickly and to understand the risks and to be prepared.

As conditions warrant, an updated advisory will be issued you can access those from the Rivers Forecast Centre website.
The Forecasts for the Terrace and Smithers regions note of Temperatures in the High 20's to mid 30's through most of the week.
