There are still a few days left to share some love for the Nurses of the North Coast and the Northwest, with the week dedicated to nursing in the province continuing on through to Mother's Day on Sunday.
At Monday's City Council session, Councillor Teri Forster shared first word of this week's celebration of nurses, calling attention to sone areas of their work that many of us may not think of often.
"It's nurses week, if you know a Health Care worker or a nurse, please take a moment and thank them.
Like many first responders, life is not always great. We see people at their worst and sometimes that can take a toll on our workers.
And so this is a week that internationally gets celebrated to highlight the work that nurses do.
But don't forget the other health care team, so if you have a moment please thank someone"
Mayor Herb Pond also provided his own tribute to the nursing profession.
"Thank you for that reminder. If my neighbours wouldn't complain I'd still be out there banging the pots and pans at 7 O'clock, because our health care workers do amazing, amazing stuff. And I'm ever grateful for what they do"
Today, May 12th marks International Nurses Day and Northern Health made note of the occasion through their social media feed, which has been featuring stories on nursing through the week.
More notes on Health Care across the Northwest can be explored here.
