MLA Jennifer Rice celebrates 100 years of library service for Prince Rupert with Legislature statement

MLA Jennifer Rice delivered a province wide 
Happy Birthday to the Prince Rupert Library this week

North Coast MLA Jennifer Rice provided a short history lesson for the British Columbia Legislature this week, calling attention for MLA's of the 100th Birthday this year for the Prince Rupert Library.

Ms. Rice hailed the work of the Library as part of the Tuesday morning Statements portion of the Legislature day, highlighting how the library grew from a reading room, to a one room structure and then as time moved forward to its current location at the corner of Sixth Avenue West and McBride Street,

The MLA noted of the work of the library staff in assisting its patrons, as well as to hail the  programs available at the library. 

Included on her list was the ongoing digitization of the Prince Rupert Daily News, providing for an archive of that paper's ninety year history in the community  

"From a Small wooden shack with a wood stove to a modern library, the Prince Rupert library has certainly become an integral part of the community. Happy 100th Birthday to the Prince Rupert Library" --MLA Jennifer Rice
