Watermain break reduces travel lanes for McBride Street

One of Prince Rupert's busiest thoroughfares saw some slowing traffic on Tuesday, that as four lanes turned to two as City of Prince Rupert crews took to their work to address a water-main issue underneath the eastern side of the street not far from Saanich Plumbing and Heating.

The water-main situation appeared to develop in the overnight period leading into Tuesday morning, with city crews on site early to begin to explore the situation fully.

A short update on Tuesday morning provided the traffic alert for city residents travelling to and from the downtown core, though so far no further updates have been provided related to the work underway.

All things considered, traffic flowed fairly well through the day Tuesday, though some drivers chose to explore work arounds away from the construction zone.

More notes on Civic Operations is available here, while some pat background on the city's Infrastructure challenges can be reviewed here.
