City Council Preview: Monday, June 13, 2022




The first of two meetings for June before council heads into a more relaxed summer schedule takes place tonight; with a Council session that will feature the first public introduction of the new Officer in Charge of the Prince Rupert Detachment of the RCMP.

An advisory at the top of the Council Agenda Page notes of the return of proceedings to the Council Chambers and offers up guidance for the public on how they can participate with the civic process.

The remainder of the Regular Council session features a range of reports from the Planning office and Chief Financial Officer, among the reports from CFO Bomben the annual release of Salaries of civic officials and expenses incurred by the city's municipal  departments.

Council will also hear the latest plans for the North Coast Mountain Bike Association's McClymont Park Pump Track project, as well as the city's plans for the Fall 2022 Municipal Election in October.

Tonight's Council session starts at 7 PM and can viewed by way of the Live Feed from the City Website, or on Cable Television from CityWest Cable Channel 10/310.

The session is normally posted to the City's YouTube archive within 24 hours of the session concluding.


Council will also host a Special Council session

The 5:00 PM meeting is closed to public for the  elements of the Community Charter cited below:

the acquisition, disposition or expropriation of land or improvements, if the council considers that disclosure could reasonably be expected to harm the interest of the municipality.

That meeting tonight marks Closed Session number twelve to be hosted this year by Council to date.

REGULAR SESSION OF CITY COUNCIL

Adoption of Agenda and Past minutes -- The Mayor will review the agenda for the evening and Council will adopt the minutes of past meetings.

Petitions and Delegations -- Council will receive a presentation from Sergeant Gerald Walker, Prince Rupert RCMP Officer in Charge

Reports and Resolutions

Report from Planning Re: Development Activity Report  for May 2022  -- Council will receive a report from the Planning Department outlining the range of development activity for the month of May.  (see page 12  of the Agenda package)

Report from Planning Development Variance-- Council will receive a report from planning related to a Development Variance Permit for a property at 1425 2nd Avenue West   (see page 20 of the Agenda package)

Report from Planning Development Variance-- Council will receive a report from planning related to a Development Variance Permit for a property at 108 Prince Rupert Boulevard (see page  26 of the Agenda package)

Report from Chief Financial Officer   --  Council will receive a report from CFO Bomben related to the April 2021 Financial Variance Report  (see page 32  of the Agenda package)

Report from Chief Financial Officer   --  Council will receive a report from CFO Bomben related to the 2021 Statement of Financial Information  (see page 38   of the Agenda package)

Report from the Corporate Administrator   --  Council will receive a report from Corporate Administrator Rosa Miller, that will update the Council Resolution status for items from April/May 2022 (see page  58 of the Agenda package)

Report from the Corporate Administrator Re: NCMBA Pump Track  --  Council will receive a report from Corporate Administrator Rosa Miller, that will outline plans for a Licence of Occupation for property in McClymont Park for the purpose of a Pump  Track for biking.  (see page 61  of the Agenda package)

Bylaws

Report from CFO Corinne Bomben Elections Procedures/Voting -- Council will receive a report on the Bylaw provisions for the Elections Voting procedure and Automated Vote Counting System for this fall's Municipal election  (see page 65 of the Agenda package)

The evening will come to an end with any Additional Items as well as Reports, Questions and Inquiries from Members of Council.

Council members can  take advantage of the period to offer up any items or concerns that they have for consideration on the night.
