North Coast MLA Jennifer Rice took to her Emergency Preparation duties recently, with some thoughts towards preparation for the summer of 2022 and hints on how to prepare our properties to be Be FireSmart for the season ahead.

The near two minute video presentation provides some notes on the BC Fire rating system and some of the things you can to around the home reduce your risk.

The MLA's video presentation is part of the social media push ahead of Wildfire Season in BC.

And while Ms. Rice as a resident of the often damp North Coast may not have as much experience in work around the house to guard against wildfires; her notes and the additional information from FireSmart BC provide for a good checklist for those in the hotter, drier climates where WildFires make for significant risk.

You can explore the full package of information from FireSmartBC here.

As the province prepares for any situations the may come from the summer of 2022, you can find the latest information from the BC Wildfire Service here.

Should there be incidents of note in the Northwest, we will archive the information at the time as part our Wildfire Archive page here.
