Venue change and ferry advisory for Lax Kw'alaams Ground Breaking Ceremony for Thursday

The Lax Kw'alaams Hall on Third West makes for the venue change
for Thursday's celebration of the start of construction for the
11th Avenue East Apartment complex

Officials from Lax Kw'alaams have moved tomorrow's Ground Breaking Ceremony for the much anticipated 70 unit apartment project on 11th Avenue East to their Hall in downtown Prince Rupert

What is now being described as a Construction Kick Off Celebration will take place from Noon to 2PM at the Lax Kw'alaams Community Hall, it's located at 822 3rd Avenue West, across from Save on Foods.

The original plan  had been to host the event at the actual work site off of 11th Avenue East, however that likely was deemed an unwise idea with much in the way of activity of late and recent rain making for a challenge at the work site for a large celebration.

With much interest in the first significant bit of progress towards housing in Prince Rupert in the last few years; the Lax Kw'alaams Band has also added to their Ferry service to bring residents of the community north of Tuck Inlet  to the city and back following the day's events.

A look at past notes on the project can be reviewed here.
