The latest issues for Prince Rupert's water infrastructure made for a Question Period intercession from MP Taylor Bachrach |
The latest major incident for the city's water infrastructure has been shared with the House of Commons as Skeena Bulkley Valley MP Taylor Bachrach, recounted some of the background to Tuesday's concerning situation at the Montreal Circle Reservoir
As we outlined earlier today, that incident was one described by Prince Rupert Mayor Herb Pond as Armageddon like, a theme that the MP relayed vividly for the House in Question Period today. speaking of torrents of water and the flooding of homes.
"This is a port city Mr. Speaker that is critical to Canada's Supply Chain an our economy will the Minister stand and speak directly to the people of Primce Rupert and assure them that timely, federal help is on the way"
The answer from MP Chris Bittle the Parliamentary Secretary for Housing, Infrastructure and Communities, doesn't give much indication that the application is on any fast track.
The reply one of recounting the discussions between the Mayor and Minster Sean Fraser and how the government is aware of the city's serious situation.
The comments in the House from the Parliamentary Secretary not much different than when Mr. Bacharch raised the issue in a Committee session earlier this month.
"We will always have the backs of the people of Prince Rupert and we will share on this as soon as we can"
