The three zones of note for the Downtown Revitalization Tax Exemption program |
The Prince Rupert and District Chamber of Commerce has done some drum banging of late for a civic tax exemption program that incentivizes construction or redevelopment of buildings used for commercial, light industrial or multiple family residential purposes.
Those that do can be exempt from municipal property taxes for a set period.
The Chamber shared some of the background to the program in their most recent newsletter for members.
The civic program addresses two areas of note, New Builds and renovations towards existing structures.
City Council will be reviewing the program in January of 2024, so some changes may be coming in the future towards the initiative, what it offers at the moment can be reviewed here.
More notes of interest on civic themes can be explored from our Council Discussion archive.
