Members of the Lax Kw'alaams Band have been invited to full afternoon of information sharing on October 5th, with the Band Council members putting forward an agenda that will cover a range of topics for the community.
The community meeting has been divided into two segments, the information portion from 1-6PM, followed by a Dinner from 6-7 PM, both events take place in the Reginald Sampson Gymnasium at Lax Kw'alaams.
The topics of note for the community to hear more on include the following themes:
Health
Infrastructure
Housing
Human Resources
Finance
Trust
Rights and Title
Education
Forestry
Economic Development
Fisheries
Bylaws and Policy
Recreation, Elders and Youth
The conversation through social media related to the plans for the meeting have included a number of concerns from September 12th, with a number of participants observing that the session won't be accessible to those members living in the Prince Rupert area.
Towards those concerns the Band Council has noted that they are working towards creating some form of a video link to make the session more accessible.
You can follow updates on the plans through the Lax Kw'alaams Social media stream.
