North Coast Transition Society, Coast Mountain College to host National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence against Women on Wednesday

The Multi-purpose room at Coast Mountain College in
Prince Rupert once again will serve as the gathering place
for Wednesday's remembrance

Residents of the North Coast will gather tomorrow as they have for many years in the past to pay remembrance to the 14 female victims of violence at the Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal on December 6th 1989.

How Ecole Polytechnique in Montreal is observing the tragic anniversary is outlined here

This year's commemoration of that horrific national event  will also serve to remember many other women in this community and elsewhere who have been killed through gender based violence.

Hosted by North Coast Transition Society and Coast Mountain College in Prince Rupert, the event tomorrow takes place at Noon Hour in the Multipurpose Room of the College on Fifth Street.

The issue of gender based violence has been noted by both MLA Jennifer Rice and Prince Rupert City Councillor Teri Forster in recent weeks with both observing on the sixteen days of action toward Gender Based Violence.
