Alaska Marine Highway Service issues call for comments towards Summer 2024 service

Prince Rupert's AMHS Terminal at Fairview Bay

It's been an extended period of time since the Alaska Marine Highway Service last called at their Fairview Bay Terminal in Prince Rupert, the service suspended since the summer of 2022 owing to financial issues and a lack of available vessels.

The last update towards service provided by AMHS in October as they looked to quash a number of rumours related to the service.

On a positive note towards a return of service one day, Prince Rupert is  still on their minds, the southern terminal still listed among the areas of service and part of their current call for comments related to the AMHS service plans for 2024.

The last update towards service provided by AMHS in November as they looked to quash a number of rumours related to the service.

The current call for comment, seeks out the feedback from AMHS customers towards service plans for the summer of 2024, but as can be seen from the Prince Rupert page, the service proposals still are at zero pending further developments from the Ferry Service.

Towards better days for the vital transpiration link for our neighbours to the north is word that the US Federal government is increasing its funding for Alaska's Marine Highway service.

That with the Federal Transit Administration allocating 113 million dollars towards improvements for the AMHS which links many communities along the Alaskan coast.

Public radio station KFSK provided a look at what that funding will mean for the Marine Highway service.

More notes related to AMHS and its plans for Prince Rupert can be reviewed through our archive page.
