Testing, Testing ... Putting BC's Alert Ready program to the test

Wherever they were at 1:55PM on Wednesday, residents across the North Coast most likely were interrupted by the sound of an echoing alert and a text message whether on a phone or on a TV, notifying them of today's test of the Alert Ready program in BC.

We made note of the plan to test the system yesterday, the province's Emergency Information program expanding on the testing program with some background on how the system works and when it is used.

As part of today's test, the provincial agency is asking British Columbians to take a short survey related to the emergency alert message delivered this afternoon, you can help by providing your feedback here.

The City of Prince Rupert has its own Notification system and you can lean more about what that offers here.

Learn more about how to prepare for emergencies from the Prepared BC website.

Should there be an alert that is raised for a real emergency, this page on the Prepared BC website is your go to destination for more information.

More notes on Provincial themes can be explored through our Legislature archive page.
