Demolition set for old Dairy Queen structure starting Monday, November 14

Long a fixture at the corner of McBride and Third Avenue West
the old Dairy Queen building is scheduled for demolition
starting on Monday morning

Things are going to look a little bit different around downtown Prince Rupert  next week, with sone long awaited and much anticipated change coming to the corner of McBride and Third Avenue West.

The notice of what's ahead coming by way of all things, a parking advisory relayed to the  members of Northern Savings Credit Union.

The notice serves to alert Credit Union members of the demolition plans for 210 McBride Street, the location that once housed the City's Dairy Queen among other tenants through the years.

The Northern Savings Parking lot will not be available next week
as Demolition work begins on 210 McBride, the location of the
former Dairy Queen building

Few other details are included in the advisory towards how long  it's anticipated that the demolition will take place, or what may come once the rubble is cleared and the lot is ready for future development.

The corner has been the key focal point for the City's downtown development plans, flagged as part of the ambitions for the Prince Rupert Gateway Project.

So it will be with much anticipation that residents await more details from Northern Savings Credit Union as to what comes next for the prime bit of real estate  at the entrance way to the downtown core area.

The Gateway District project was one of a number of items relayed as part of the State of the City presentation form June from former Mayor Lee Brain.
