A newly created initiative to deliver federal economic development initiatives has opened its Prince Rupert office today, with PacifiCan moving into offices in the Capital Mall, not too far from the Prince Rupert and District Chamber of Commerce.
The Prince Rupert office joins similar ones located in Prince George and Fort St. John to provide services to the Northern region, todays announcements follows a similar one yesterday that set up PacifiCan offices in the southern interior of the province.
Harjit Sajjan, Minister of International Development and Minister responsible for the Pacific Economic Development Agency of Canada (PacifiCan) spoke to the importance of the North and how the new venture will help to grow the economy.
"There is an amazing story unfolding here in Northern B.C. Canada and the world needs more of what British Columbians have to offer. Today's announcement is about working closely together in supporting the growth of businesses and responding to priorities in these communities. Thank you for welcoming us and we look forward to helping you succeed."
Today's announcement included funding for a number of projects located in the Peace, Cariboo and Dease Lake regions.
