Some funding from the Province of British Columbia will make for some fun at Prince Rupert recreation facilities on Family Day weekend, with the City advising of two free events in celebration of Family Day in BC.
The Funding was noted by the province in January ahead of this years Family Day planning.
"BC Family Day is a provincial statutory holiday. British Columbians celebrate Family Day on the third Monday of February.
In 2024, Family Day falls on Monday, February 19th. To celebrate, the B.C. government provides funding for free Family Day activities.
BC Family Day gives families the opportunity to spend time with their loved ones.
This year, the B.C. government is partnering with the BC Recreation and Parks Association and the BC Museums Association to fund free virtual and in-person Family Day activities across the province during the Family Day weekend.
This ensures that the celebrations are accessible to everyone."
Towards the province's generosity, the City has scheduled a Public Swim on Saturday, February 17th waiving the admission fee from 2-4 PM, with activities and games planned for those in attendance.
On Sunday, the City hosts a Public Skate at the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre rink with Free admission from 5:15 to 6:30 PM
As for Family Day Monday in Prince Rupert, all civic facilities are closed for the Day.
