North Coast MLA Jennifer Rice has followed up on Tuesday's Speech from the Throne, highlighting a few of the passages from the presentation by Lieutenant Governor Janet Austin.
Using her social media stream on Wednesday, the MLA took note of the special shout out for Prince Rupert's infrastructure issues and the help provided by the province.
For example, this year's speech from the throne referenced the work we're doing to help replace Prince Rupert's aged water supply system so people can have reliable access to clean drinking water.
As well, she put some focus on the NDP government's work on health care.
We all need access to quality health care, including a primary care provider such as a family doctor or nurse practitioner.
Those notes on health come amidst some extra attention towards the issue locally in recent weeks.
With a few of the city's doctors set to move on to new practices in other locales and Prince Rupert City Council recently noting of a number of concerns on health care in the community.
The MLA's checklist on what the province will be focused on in the Spring session and lead up to the fall election also speaks of strengthening health care and services.
It's progress on those themes, that likely will be watched with some interest by residents back in the home constituency, and perhaps an element for discussion that the MLA who also doubles as the Parliamentary Secretary on Rural Health may want to join in on with City Council towards.
Offering up some guidance perhaps, as to how the Province can assist in looking to resolve some of the growing list of concerns on health care in Prince Rupert.
Today, Finance Minister Katrine Conroy will present the provincial budget, a presentation in the Legislature set for 1 PM that will provide a glimpse into how they plan to finance many of what will be election campaign narrative pieces towards the fall.
The MLA likely to share her enthusiasm for the NDP planning in the days to come.
