The Booth Gathering Space is the venue for a Special Open School Board meeting scheduled for Tuesday September 5th at 7PM |
As students prepare to head back to class across Prince Rupert and Port Edward on Tuesday, they are receiving a Welcome back to School letter from Ms. Sandra Pond, who has been named Acting Superintendent for the District, taking on the duties from Superintendent Andrew Samoil until further notice.
As part of her duties, Ms. Pond will also hold the office of Director of Instruction at SD52.
In addition to the welcome back to students, Ms Pond's letter notes of the impact of the wildfires across British Columbia and observes of the fresh start that September brings for students and the community.

The Board of Education also has relayed an advisory that it will be holding a Special Open Board Meeting on September 5th at the Booth Building gathering centre, that session set for a 7 PM start.
That Board meeting may provide some guidance on the temporary change in administration, as well as to what if any plans may be required for the School Board to make, with one Board member Michael Pucci having taken on work in Terrace.
The Board may also provide some background towards their signing bonus program of the summer that was impletemented to attract qualified teachers to the Prince Rupert district.
The Agenda for the Board meeting doesn't have much to note for the session, other than a list of proposed changes to the School District meeting calendar for the rest of 2023.
As the School District has yet to embrace the technology for the live stream without an invitation; the Board is asking that those who can't attend in person to use a link to the Zoom stream of the Board meeting on Tuesday.
The details towards accessing the Tuesday session can be found here.
