Work continues on a staircase and additional parking for First Avenue East, but plans by the City of Prince Rupert to sell off some property have come to a halt. |
The land in question, which is currently used for parking was the subject of some push back from local merchants in the area following the roll out of the property disposition plans.
Part of that original proposal tied into the property disposition had included the construction of a temporary parking lot along George Hills Way, a project that it seems will also be in hibernation following yesterday's news.
In their advisory from Monday the City notes that they will continue on with plans towards development of additional parking in the area, something that they highlighted a few weeks back with a few details towards parking on 1st Avenue East atop the bluffs above Cow Bay.
The notice also highlights that the city remains open to receiving proposals for developments on City owned-properties, and encourages interested parties to reach out to Paul Vendittelli, the Director of Economic Development and Transportation, if you are interested, by calling (250) 627 5138 or emailing paul.vendittelli@princerupert.ca.
