Residents in Prince Rupert and on Haida Gwaii will soon have a chance to review and offer comments and observations towards the update underway for the Regional District's Solid Waste Management Plan.
NCRD officials are currently in the planning stages of updating the solid Wast Management plan, their work focused on six key objectives.
Improve operational and financial efficiencies of the NCRD waste management system
Assist users to improve their participation in waste segregation and diversion programs
Continue monitoring new and upgraded solid waste management facilities and services
Maintain and improve relationships with larger waste generators
Improve compliance with existing product stewardship programs
Expand service delivery to rural communities.
Regional District is at the halfway point of the four phases towards the planning, with Community Engagement and the evaluation of options the next step.
Towards the public engagement portion of that work, NCRD is hosting two Public information opportunities this month in Prince Rupert, both of which take place on Monday September 25th.
From Noon to 2 PM Regional District officials will be at the Canada Safeway location at 200 - and Avenue West,
From there they move across the street on First to the Crest Hotel hosting a session there from 4 to 6PM
Following the Prince Rupert Sessions, they take their engagement program across Hecate Strait to Haida Gwaii with events planned for Daajing Gids and Masset.
They also are asking North Coast residents to take part in their Third Public engagement survey which you can explore here.
Before you take in the public info sessions or take the survey, check out the Draft Solid Wast Management Plan here.
The also offer up a storyboard review of their work to date.
More notes from Regional District can be reviewed here.
