Some programs face delayed semester start at Coast Mountain College

Many College students across the Northwest will also be gaining a few extra days off from their studies this week as Coast Mountain College continues to assess the impact of the OMICRON variant of COVID and review their return to campus plans after the holiday break.

College officials made their decision on New Years Eve, delaying the return to in class studies for many students to January 10th, that while Coast Mountain College works with local health authorities to review data from provincial sources.

Towards the current COVID situation, Coast Mountain College notes the following:

The nature of the COVID-19 pandemic continues to change every day. Based on experience in BC and internationally, educational settings are low-risk for COVID-19 transmission. CMTN continues to monitor the situation, adapt as needed and do its best to move forward in a safe and inclusive manner.

Campus services will be open and CMTN employees will be at work on January 4.

If anything changes before that date, CMTN will notify staff and faculty by email.

The delayed return to classes will not be in place for a number of programs however, the list of those set to return to class on Tuesday is as follows:

Carpentry Level 1
Step into Trades
Power Engineering Readiness
Programs with practicums scheduled to start before January 10
