Northern Health announced an end to its own specific Public Health Orders for Gatherings and Events on Thursday, with the Health Authority advising that measures in place since December have been ended, aligning the North with the Provincial Health Orders which have been put in place by Doctor Bonnie Henry.
While NH-specific measures are repealed effective January 20, 2022 -- all current Provincial Public Health Orders and restrictions, including PHO orders on masks in public indoor settings, on gatherings and events, and on restaurants, pubs, bars and nightclubs continue to be in effect and enforced in the Northern Health region.In their information update from Thursday, Northern Health noted of how the Provincial measures will continued to help limit the impacts of the current Omicron drive rates of COVID-19 infection on health care resources across the Health Authority service area.

Earlier this week, Northern Health outlined the measures they are taking towards health care services in response to growing staffing concerns at many of their facilities.
As we noted on Wednesday, the case count of COVID in the Northwest is on the rise in many communities, with Smithers an area of particular note in the last seven days.
As of yesterday, Northern Health had reported 33 hospitalizations related to COVID across the North, with 11 patients in Critical Care, they have not outlined which communities have the largest volume of hospitalizations.
