Local Health Authority COVID review by region for January 9 -- January 15 |
Wednesday's data release from the BC CDC, for the most recent reporting period, has delivered another spike for the Northwest as we move through the Omicron phase of the coronavirus.
For the week of January 9-15, Smithers once again dominates the findings, adding close to another 100 cases to bring their total to 293 cases of COVID reported
Terrace has seen a slight increase in the period, marking 116 up from 109 cases of COVID last week.
Prince Rupert also saw a sharp increase from 72 cases seven days ago, to 90 in the current period.
Kitimat, Nechako and Upper Skeena all saw declines from last week, other areas held the levels, or saw slight increases for the week.

Wednesday's provincial report lists 260 new cases of COVID for Northern Health, with 1,504 Active cases.
With the case count now jumping in exponential numbers, the focus turns to the key indicators of impact on the health care system, that of admissions for hospitalization and those in critical care
For the Northern Health Region in total as of Wednesday, 33 patients are listed as in hospital an increase of twenty from last week, with 11 noted as in Critical Care, up from 3 seven days ago.
The breakdown of hospitalization by community in the Northern Health region is not included in the data release information.
Yesterday, Northern Health outlined how the current increase in cases and staffing issues were making for challenges in service delivery, providing an update on their plans for regional health facilities across the north.
