Expansion plans for Butze Terminal's Industrial Park waterfront area now up for review

Putze Terminal has an application filed with the province
towards expansion of their terminal on Fern Passage

An Application to the Provincial government from Butze Terminal Limited could see an amendment to an existing lease on some waterfront land in the Industrial Park that would expand on the facilities at the Metlakatla Road industrial Site.

New Westminster based Amix Group is the company behind the Butze Terminal project, in addition to their Prince Rupert operations, they also offer similar cargo and transload services in Chilliwack and Surrey.

As part of the application now under review,  the current transload facility would include the addition of a new conveyor and associated footing and support dolphin (four interconnected piles), installation of additional barge moorage supports (two dolphins), installation of a floating platform with a winch system, addition of a ramp to provide foot access to the dock, and removal of the existing permanent loading barge.

The site which is located between Tidal Coast Terminals and the Wainwright Marine Yard is tucked away somewhat out of sight in the Industrial park handles wood chips and other forest related products and is part of the growing industrial presence in that area of the city that has access to Fern Passage.

As part of the application the proponents have provided for a Project Effects Assessment and Management Plan which you can explore further here.
