Prince Rupert Marine Rescue nets 38,000 in grant funding

The British Columbia government has shared some more of the province's Community Gaming revenues this week, with 6.3 million distributed towards 132 not for profit organizations which provide for emergency and life saving services.

The funding announced by Josie Osborne, the provincial minister of municipal affairs.

“Our government is committed to supporting local organizations involved in a wide variety of activities that contribute to building vibrant, healthy communities. This funding ensures community organizations can continue to provide programming to enhance public safety through emergency programs like search and rescue, and to steward and preserve our ecosystems for generations to come.”

Among the groups to receive the funding is the Prince Rupert Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue Society which will see 38,000 dollars from the gaming revenues. 


Around the rest of the Northwest, two Terrace groups have received funding from the program:

Terrace Search and Rescue which receives $76,300 and the Skeena Volunteer Ski Patrol Society which will receive $15,000 

In Smithers Bulkley Valley Search and Rescue will receive $56,000 while the Bulkley Valley Amateur Radio Society will receive $5,900.

At Oona River, the Oona River Resources Association will receive $22,000 towards it's environmental work.
 
On Haida Gwaii, Queen Charlotte City's Laskeek Bay Conservation Society received $13,000 for environmental work.

North Coast MLA Jennifer Rice used her social media feed today to offer her congratulations to the successful recipients.
