A proposal from 2022 to create a new recreation area in the area just west of Galloway Rapids is seemingly on pause, that after the Provincial Government disallowed the original application, owing to a wish by the District of Port Edward to expand the plan to an area adjacent to the original land in question.
The Decision was released by the Province in late October, citing elements towards their policies related to Crown land.
The original request was submitted in 2022, with the comment period closing in October of 2022.So far there is no indication on the BC Government Land Applications website that the District has resubmitted its request. The District has not as of yet commented publicly on the status of their plans.
Should the resubmit their proposal, the entire process would start over again, with the additional land request included.
More notes from the District can be reviewed through our archive page.
