Journalism program, enrolment notes, among themes for SD52 Board meeting tonight

Members of the Board of Education for School District 52 will host their monthly session tonight with a 7PM meeting at the Booth Meeting Room adjacent to Lax Kxeen elementary school.

The session tonight features a presentation from teacher Thomas Kertes, who will update the Board members on the PRMS to CHSS journalism Bridging program.

A look at the current status of enrolment for the School District and some notes on enrolment trends for the last six years will be featured in a report to the Board as well

The current enrolment as of November 2023 is 1,818 students, not far from last years numbers; but still showing an enrolment in decline over six years, in 2018 the District had counted 1,983 students enrolled in the schools.

A review of field trips, expenditure reports, and notes from a range of committees and policy themes make for the rest of the Agenda for the night, the blue print for the night ahead is available here.

The Calendar ahead for the Board includes a Professional Development Day for the District ahead this Friday.

Board members can attend a BCSTA Trustee Academy from November 23-25.

The next Board Meeting put the wrap on the School year for 2023 on December 18th.

The District wide Christmas Break takes place from December 25 to January 5, 2024

Tonight's meeting will also be streamed through Zoom though you need an invite, which you can  access through the Board office at 250-624-6717.

At some point in the weeks ahead, tonight's Board meeting will also be added to the SD52 YouTube page archive of past meetings.
