MLA's Week: November 20-23, 2023



Back to their duties in Victoria after the one week Remembrance Day break and for the NDP members a convention last weekend, the MLA's of the Legislature from the Northwest had another fairly light work week in the Chamber. 

With only a few mentions for the three noted in the record of participation in the Legislature.

Haida Gwaii was featured in some news from the Legislature this week, part of a joint Provincial/Federal funding announcement towards their wastewater plans


The BC Government also continued with its forward momentum on housing plans, announcing an expansion to the Speculation and Vacancy Tax Program, though limiting the scope to southern portions of the province and Vancouver island.

On the week, Ms Rice was mentioned twice for the week in the  Legislature from November 20-23, 2023.

Her first contribution to the Chamber came on Monday afternoon as she shared her thoughts on the Proclamation of Patti Forman Day with the members of the Legislature, outlining the background to the events of November 21st, 2022


Later in the week the MLA saluted the members of the Rural Health Network who were in the gallery on Wednesday afternoon. (see video at 13:41 PM)

The North Coast MLA is also a member of the Following committees:





The MLA Is also Deputy Chair of the Select Standing Committee on Public Accounts 

Ms. Rice serves as the Government's Parliamentary Secretary for Rural health.

The North Coast MLA also addressed a range of themes and relayed  a number of government announcements through her Social Media Stream.

For our readers from the Terrace-Kitimat region, Skeena MLA Ellis Ross  was  mentioned once  in the record for the week in the Legislature from November 20-23, 2023.

His Monday morning participation on themes of carbon emission reduction goals, part of a larger BC United approach taking on the BC NDP's climate action plans and the impact that they say it is having on British Columbia.


Mr. Ross serves as the BC United critic on LNG and Energy

The Skeena MLA has not been named to any of the Standing Committees for this session.

The Skeena MLA also addressed a range of themes  featured as part of the MLA's social media work.

For our readers from the Bulkley Valley area, Stikine MLA Nathan Cullen  was  mentioned twice  in the record for the week in the  Legislature from November 20-23, 2023.

The  first by way of introductions of members of the BC Guide Outfitters Association, some from his riding of Stikine who were in gallery of the Legislature on Monday afternoon, (see video at 13:38 PM

On Thursday afternoon, the Minister  of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship was in the lead for the government speaking to Bill 45, the Miscellaneous Statutes Amendment Act.  (See video starting at 14:48 PM)


Mr. Cullen serves as the Government's Minister of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship.

The Stikine MLA also had comments on a range of themes through his Social Media stream this week
