Members of the Lax Kw'alaams Band are set to cast their ballots for the government that will chart their course for the next four years, with large volume of candidates to choose from in the 2023 election.
Voting got underway at 9 AM at two locations:
The Lax Kw'alaams Elders lodge on Church Street in Lax Kw'alaams
Prince Rupert Polling Station, Lax Kw'alaams Hall 824-3rd Avenue West
Members also had opportunity to vote online and by mail in ballot
Polls Close at 8PM at both locations.
As we outlined on November 1st it's a large field of candidates for elected office, with five contenders seeking to gain the office of Mayor from incumbent Gary Reece.
There are 26 candidates seeking the 12 council seats which feature a mix of On Reserve and Off Reserve positions.
