For students considering the University of Victoria for their post secondary school years, a new agreement between Coast Mountain College and UVic could help reduce your cost of education while guaranteeing students a placement for the final two years of their chose program.
The scope of the program would see students launch their University years close to home at Coast Mountain Campus locations before transferring to UVic to complete their studies, the program is in place for select programs.
Eligible and qualified students who complete their Associate Degree of Arts or Science at CMTN, can transfer directly into Humanities, Science, Social Science, or Art History and Visual Studies.
Students who complete their first year of Engineering at CMTN can transfer directly into Engineering or Software Engineering at UVic.
To be eligible for this transfer, students must take 24 credits of courses at CMTN and achieve a minimum GPA of 2.0 (calculated on the most recent 24 credits) in order to enter the Faculties of Humanities, Science, Social Science, and Department of Art History and Visual Studies at UVic.
Students wanting to pursue Engineering or Software Engineering at UVic must successfully complete all the required courses and achieve a minimum GPA of 2.33 at CMTN.
Dr. Titi Kunkel, Vice President Academic, Students, and International provides a bit more background to the initiative between CMTN and UVic.
“This updated transfer agreement between Coast Mountain College and University of Victoria ensures that students who want to pursue Bachelor’s degrees can stay close to home for their first and second years and benefit from our experiential place-based learning, small class sizes, and affordable tuition costs, while also giving them more time to prepare for life in a new city,”
