Two newcomers to join incumbents at SD52 Board following Saturday election results

With Tina Last and Bart Kuntz having announced their plans to step aside from the School Board prior to the 2022 vote, there was a guarantee of new faces for the SD52 Board as the votes came in on Saturday night..

And of the three challengers for seats, two found success as the final results were released shortly after 10 PM on election night.

From the results, Michael Pucci and Danielle Dalton are set to take on the challenges of education in Prince Rupert over the next four years.

Mr. Pucci with 1,535 votes proving to be the second most popular choice,  following Board Chair Kate Toye what topped the polls with 1,972 votes.

They and Ms. Dalton will join incumbents  Kristy Maier, James Horne and Louisa Sanchez in the SD52 Board offices.

Left just off the cut offline from the ballot count was Stephanie Watkins who came within  thre percent of taking a seat when the final numbers were revealed.

Janet Beil was acclaimed as the rural representative earlier this month.

The School District contest was one that flew under the radar for the most part over the six week period, with little heard from any of the candidates during the campaign period.
