David Eby's NDP leadership campaign makes Northwest tour with Prince Rupert stop set for tonight

NDP Leadership candidate David Eby, with MLA Nathan Cullen and
Smithers Mayor Gladys. Atrill in the BulkleyValley on Tuesday

David Eby who is the front runner in the current leadership campaign to replace John Horgan and take on the Premiership of the Province, is currently touring the northwest, his most recent stop making for some discussion on Housing themes in Smithers.

As we noted earlier today, the former Housing Minister and Attorney General (Eby stepped down from his posts as the leadership race began) has proposed a range of housing policy changes and he took some of that discussion to the Bulkley Valley, with the trip relayed through the Social media stream for Municipal Affairs Minister and Stikine MLA Nathan Cullen.

Prince Rupert's Royal Canadian Legion is the host venue
for a David Eby event tonight in the city

Tonight Mr. Eby's tour of the Northwest arrives in Prince Rupert, his stop over in the city set for a 6:00 to 7:30 appearance at the Prince Rupert brach of the Royal Canadian Legion on Third Avenue West.

The ninety minute session an opportunity for some of the candidates for municipal office as well as local NDP members and residents in general to learn more about what his focus may be should he become Premier.

His time ahead in the city a theme shared by North Coast MLA Jennifer Rice this week.

Mr. Eby is being challenged for the leadership by Anjali Appadurai, she has taken on more of an activist, anti-establishment theme to her candidacy and has recently spoken out towards how NDP leadership officials have addressed the issue of new members.

Ms. Appadurai has yet to be officially accepted as a leadership contender owing to some of those membership concerns with a review currently underway.

That issue has had the NDP seemingly concerned that some current or recently departed members of the Green Party are seeking to hijack the NDP's campaign.

The BC NDP leadership page can be reviewed here.

More note those themes can be found through our political portal D'Arcy McGee.

Items of interest from the local MLA's office and Legislature can be reviewed here.
