Terrace COVID count tops the entire Northern Health Region in latest BC CDC data review

BC CDC Data for the week of August 7-13


While the Terrace numbers for this week make for a unique double digit count across the region, the numbers remain low for much of Northwest British Columbia, with all other communities in the single digits or at zero from the most recent listings.

This week's report from the BC CDC for the period of July 17-23  has Terrace marking the highest count listed in Northern British Columbia, with even the much larger community of Prince George finding numbers that have dropped significantly, currently recording a case count of 9 in the period.

The full review across the region for the week of August 7-13  from the BC CDC looks as follows:

Terrace --  14 cases
Haida Gwaii -- 3 cases
Nechako --  2 cases
Upper Skeena --  2 cases
Prince Rupert -- 2 cases
Smithers -- 1 case
Bella Coola Valley -- 1 case
Central Coast --  1 case
Burns Lake --  0 cases
Snow Country-Stikine-Telegraph Creek --  0 cases
Kitimat -- 0 cases
Nisga'a Region --  0 cases


The Provincial Data Review shows continued lessening of the summer wave for the coronavirus. 

877 New Cases , with 366 hospitalized, 22 in Critical Care  and 24 new deaths from COVID reported.

The total number of deaths in BC since the start of the coronavirus is 4,037 to date.

There have been 381,049 cases of COVID recorded in the province since the arrival of the pandemic

As of July 21st the Province had distributed 13,263,314 first, second or booster shots of the COVID Vaccine, with a fourth booster program for specific groups underway.

The wider fall Booster program is to start in the fall with residents being advised by email of the timeline.

Thursday's provincial report lists  45 new cases of COVID for the Northern Health region for the reporting week.

That makes for a total of 30,798 cases recorded since the start of the pandemic.

For the Northern Health Region, 21 patients are listed as in hospital, with 2 noted as in Critical Care, the Northern Health region recorded 1 death in this last week.

The Northern Health total of deaths attributed to COVID is listed as 372 since the start of the pandemic.

The  breakdown of hospitalizations by community in the Northern Health region is not included in the data release information.
