North Coast MLA Jennifer Race hails additional sailings for BC Ferries Prince Rupert-Haida Gwaii Service

The Prince Rupert-Haida Gwaii route will see some additional sailings over
the course of the next month

Some good news for travellers aboard BC Ferries has been shared by North Coast MLA Jennifer Rice, with the MLA noting on Friday through her Social Media page that six additional sailings have been put on the Prince Rupert to Haida Gwaii schedule from August 24 to September 24th.

Ms. Rice observing how the route has been fully subscribed through much of the summer, which has made for a large amount of frustration from residents of the Islands in particular who rely of BC Ferries to make the transit to Prince Rupert and beyond.

The issue of suspended sailings and reservation concerns has been a significant topic of discussion through this year for political representatives on Haida Gwaii.

As we noted last week, the community of Daaning Giids (formerly Queen Charlotte) has made Ferries concerns the subject to two UBCM resolutions for the September Convention.

Ms. Rice's notes on the additional sailings have seemingly tapped and released some of that frustration on Haida Gwaii, with a number of comments relayed to the MLA through her social media forum over the weekend.

More notes on BC Ferries can be reviewed here.
