The only Council session for August takes place this evening, as the Council members continue with their more relaxed summer schedule of review for civic issues.
The session tonight features a number of presentations from the City's Fire Chief and Operations Director, along with a range of items from the city's Planning Office and Financial Office.
Council members will also hear of a plan to sell a parcel of land to the ownership of the Digby Towers. to be used for towards access for parking for the soon to reopen apartment complex.
The City's planning department will outline the nature of a range of Development Variance Permit requests up for consideration on the night.
Council will also receive a report towards changes in the city's Public notice policies and practices, road closure plans for an area near Digby Tower a request for support from EcoTrust Canada and forward momentum for the city's Borrowing bylaw for the new RCMP facility.
It being a Committee of the Whole Night the Public will have opportunity to ask questions or raise items of concern with the Council membership.
An advisory at the top of the Council Agenda Page notes of the return of proceedings to the Council Chambers and offers up guidance for the public on how they can participate with the civic process.
Tonight's Council session starts at 7PM and can viewed by way of the Live Feed from the City Website, or on Cable Television from CityWest Cable Channel 10/310.
The session is normally posted to the City's YouTube archive within 24 hours of the session concluding.

The 5:00 PM meeting is closed to public for the two elements of the Community Charter cited below:
(k) Negotiations and related discussions respecting the proposed provision of a municipal service that are at their preliminary stages and that, in the view of the council, could reasonably be expected to harm the interests of the municipality if they were held in public.
That meeting tonight marks the Fifteenth Closed Session hosted this year by Council to date.
