The visit to the North Coast by a Federal Cabinet Minister made for a wide range of side trips the last few days, with Harjit Sajjan, the Minister of International Development and Minister responsible for the Pacific Economic Development Agency of Canada making appearances, announcements and speeches at a number of locations around Prince Rupert and Port Edward over the last 48 hours.
One stop on the whirlwind visit was the opportunity to explore the North Pacific Cannery Historical Site in Port Edward, with Mayor Knut Bjorndal and Board Chair Mona Izumi hosting Mr. Sajjan for his tour of the popular Northwest attraction.

Also along for the walk along the boardwalks was Skeena-Bulkley ValleyMP Taylor Bacharach who shared some thoughts and photos of Tuesday morning in the sun in Port Edward.
Among his notes, a promise to seek out some additional federal funding for the historical site to help it continue to create economic development for the region.
North Pacific Reopened to the public this summer following two years of COVID shutdowns, the relaunch has included some new ideas to bring out both visitors to the region and local residents.
Among some of the initiatives the Happy Hour on the Working Dock events, which have taken place through July and into August, with the final edition for 2022 set for tomorrow from 5 PM to 9PM.
