With the District releasing the key talking points from the August 19th session this week.
The Board resolved to send a letter to the Prince Rupert Port Authority to request the concept plan for the Fairview Harbour Reconfiguration and Proposed DP World Terminal Expansion. The Board will also request that the PRPA provide a list of user groups who were consulted as part of this project.
They also have approved some spending for the mainland recycling centre on Kaien Road in Prince Rupert, with two areas of note outlined from the session.
Among some of the key items from the update for residents, NCRD officials note of how they are expanding on their interest in plans for the Fairview Harbour small crafts facility on the west side of Prince Rupert.
The Board approved the purchase of a new phone system for the Mainland Recycling Depot.

As well, the Board approved the costs to replace the front receiving door at the Mainland Recycling Depot.
Housing issues across the North Coast and on Haida Gwaii will gain some additional study in 2023 with the Board looking to host workshops next year and to make application to UBCM as part a grant program from the municipal organization.
The Board resolved to hold regional housing workshops in Prince Rupert, B.C. and Haida Gwaii, B.C. in February 2023 and directed staff to engage with proposed workshop participants and prepare an application to the UBCM Community to Community Forum grant program.
Regional District has also extended the current Business Façade Improvement program until November of this year. More on that initiative can be explored here.

Regional District members will be in attendance at the UBCM convention in September, with the event set for Whistler from September 14-16.
While they will be taking in many of the activities and seeking out Provincial cabinet ministers and officials for discussions on a range of topics.
As an organization North Coast Regional District has not submitted any Resolutions for Consideration at this years municipal gathering.
