North Coast MLA Jennifer Rice saluted the community spirit and work of two Haida Gwaii residents in the Legislature on Thursday, providing a short glimpse into the dedication to community of Gudangaay K’uuk Ahl Iiwaans (Christopher Horner) of Old Massett, and Beverly Lore of Port Clements.
As we outlined earlier this month, the pair were honoured the BC Medal of Good Citizenship, they were two of thirty two to receive the award for community work during our times of COVID, they were the only two recipients for the northwest and in fact were the only two to be recognized west of Prince George.
In her comments, Ms. Rice highlighted their dedication to community and service to Haida Gwaii that they both bring to the Islands.
"The Medal of Good Citizenship celebrates British Columbians who have acted in a particularly generous, kind or selfless manner for the common good, without expectation of reward. Recipients Beverly Lore and Christopher Horner exemplify these qualities and I want to thank them for their selfless service"
