As Arctic front moves into the region, Northern Health issues a Cold Weather Alert


With an eye on the days ahead, Northern Health has put out an Extreme Cold Warning through their Prince Rupert and area Social Media page,  that as temperatures in the Prince Rupert area could drop to -18 later this week.

We traced some of the path of the encroaching Arctic air yesterday, with the next few days becoming increasingly colder as we head to Friday, relief is expected to come by next week with more moderate temperatures.

Until then the cold and by weekend some snow will make for challenges for those without housing options in the community.

For this week Northern Health has provided some background on how those in need can gain access to Emergency Shelter and other services. As well as some winter weather advice for the community.


The link provided to the Emergency Shelter listing, delivers one facility in the community that being the Crane's Crossing Shelter at Five Corners, that listing notes of 35 beds available for Emergency housing.
