Those residents of the region who make use of the Friensdship House EVAW shuttle bus between Prince Rupert and Terrace will have to make alternative travel arrangements for the near future, that as the popular travel option has been suspended until further notice.

The update for travellers came just prior to the first trip for 2024 yesterday, the details as to why the service was suspended were not outlined in the social media post, though those who use the service are asked to follow that stream for updates in the future.

The service was hit and miss for portions of the last half of 2023, with the service like this week occassionaly suspended, at times with little advance warning during that period.

The cancellation of the twice a week service on Tuesday's and Thursday's leaves travellers with one less option for now until it resumes.

With the BC North Bus, Northern Health Connections bus and VIA Rail offering scattered services through the week.

Prince Rupert remains the only community in the Northwest not to offer a BC Transit option to connect residents here with service further to the east.

A service that was advocated for and championed by North Coast MLA Jennifer Rice when introduced

The decision  to remain out of that program was made by the Prince Rupert City Council of 2016, a revisit to the issue has not been a priority it would seem since that time, despite opportunities to reconsider.
