The projects of note for Prince Rupert provide for community health, accessibility and well-being and were on the receiving end of the welcome news from MLA Jennifer Rice today.
Among those to receive funding from Victoria include:
Friendship house Association of Prince Rupert – Emergency social services, outreach - $80,000
Change Makers’ Education Society – Children, youth and family services, education, tutoring services - $20,000
Price Rupert Unemployed Centre Society – Human and social services - $33,000
The funding comes from the Provincial Government's Community Gaming Grant funding program, you can learn more about how to access funding from the program here.
Towards the funding for local initiatives theNorth Coast MLA outlined the focus for the work that is done through the programs in the community.
“Over the past couple years the needs for supports such as childcare, foodbanks, mental health and addictions supports and family services has grown.
This funding will be able to help a wide range of organizations so they’re able to continue supporting people and keeping up with the growing needs of the community.” -- Jennifer Rice, MLA for North Coast.
Today's announcement also included an update of some of the recent funding delivered to Prince Rupert groups through this year.

Friendship House Association of Prince Rupert - $80,000
Prince Rupert and District Hospice Society - $9,400
Prince Rupert Growing Space Society - $18,500
Prince Rupert Lions Club - $30,000
Prince Rupert Options for Social Growth Society - $16,000
Prince Rupert Unemployed Centre Society - $16,000
