Second Candidate steps forward for Prince Rupert Mayoralty contest, as Chrystopher Thompson heads for the campaign trail

is the second candidate to announce for the
city's fall municipal Mayoralty campaign

There will be no Mayor by acclamation in Prince Rupert in 2022, that as Chrystopher Thompson puts his name forward for the mayoralty race this October, the North Coast Indigenous Education mentor at Pacifc Coast School noting of his hopes to bring a lasting change to the community.

His will be a familiar name for many Prince Rupert residents, having been one of the founders of PAC 10 Tutoring, a local service which grew significantly over the last decade.

He posted his candidacy announcement to Social Media this morning, noting of the city's financial issues, housing  and the need for partnerships with First Nations and BC Housing towards creating more affordable housing stock in the community.

Mr. Thompson joins former Prince Rupert Mayor, Herb Pond as the first to declare for the civic election this fall.

We made note of Mr. Pond's entry into the race one week ago today.

Towards his candidacy, Mr. Thompson has created a Social Media page towards engagement with the voters
